Fall 2007
Dear Parents/Students:
I hope you have had a relaxing summer and are ready to jump into the routine that Fall brings. I am excited for the upcoming music year and hope that this letter will help get us all organized and ready for September.
There will be a couple of changes for this years schedule which is explained in detail on the calendar page. You may also call or write any time if you have any questions.
I am also excited to announce that I got engaged this summer and am busy planning a wedding for October 20th, 2007. I am looking forward to the changes but also busy organizing my teaching schedule to accommodate this change.
Lessons will be on a 34 lesson schedule and will go a little longer into June to allow for some holiday time for me in October/November. Monday students will have the option of a substitute teacher for those weeks, as they have so many more holidays throughout the year. We will discuss this option in September.
Lessons begin the week of September 4th at my current studio location.
Lesson Fees:
All lesson fees are to be paid by post-dated cheques, for the first of the month. Cheques can be made out for September to June, with no cheque due for November. These fees will cover 34 lessons for each day of the week, which allows 6 "teacher days" off for Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday students and 5 "teacher days" off for Friday students. Monday students will need 4 additional lessons during the year to complete their 34 lessons.
Cheques can be written to Amie Hope for September and October and to Amie Webster for the remainder of the year (Dec-June). * no cheque for the month of November
Lesson books and theory books/classes are not included in these fees and are the responsibility of the parents. We can discuss what materials are needed for the year in our first few lessons.
2007/2008 Lesson Fees:
| Private Lessons | ||
|---|---|---|
| 30 minute lessons | $64.00/per month | (September - June) |
| 45 minute lessons | $96.00/per month | (September - June) |
| 1 hour lessons | $128.00/per month | (September - June) |
Attendance:
I have reserved your lesson time especially for you for the whole year. To be successful in your music studies, I encourage consistent attendance. I will not make up lessons that are missed, unless in the case of a prolonged illness or under special circumstances.
Practices:
As you prepare for your music lessons this year, please consider your commitments carefully and remember that progress during your weekly lessons is entirely dependant on consistent, daily practice. Students are expected to practice at least five days a week. I am happy to work together with you / your child on a practice routine that will be successful. Short practices a few times daily are great for the young beginner.
| Recommended Practice Lengths | ||
|---|---|---|
| Beginner - Grade 3 level | 30 minutes + daily | |
| Grade 4 - Grade 7 level | 45 minutes + daily | |
| Grade 7 - Grade 8 level | 1 - 1.5 hours + daily | |
| Grade 9 - ARCT level | 2 hours + daily | |
Do remember that these are only suggestions and quality practices are much more effective than long practices that don't include working on problem areas in a song.
I look forward to working with you this year and welcome your communication. Please call or email if you have any questions or concerns. Remember to check the website during the year for further schedule updates, upcoming events and quarterly newsletters.
See you in September!
Regards,
